Wesley University Governing Council has appointed Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka (Rt. Rev.) as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, with effect from January 01, 2022. This follows the resignation of Prof. Sunday Ndubueze Ukachukwu due to health concerns.

Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka (Rt. Rev.) is a Professor of Geographical and Environmental Education from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is also a clergy of Methodist Church Nigeria, and currently the Connexional Secretary for Evangelism and Discipleship in the Church.

The official handover ceremony was performed on Monday, January 10, 2022, by Prof. Sunday Ndubueze Ukachukwu, the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, to formally usher in Prof. S. S. Obeka, the Acting Vice-Chancellor.

On assumption of duty, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the Principal Officers, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students; he prayed for divine upliftment of the University and called on all as stakeholders in the affairs of the University to work together in harmony as a community, towards the advancement of the Institution.
