Wesley University Ondo gets NUC approval for Medicine/Surgery, Pharmacy, others

In a significant academic milestone, Wesley University Ondo has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, and other new programs at the undergraduate level for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Notably, all programs submitted by the university for resource verification received approval. A statement issued by the NUC, signed by Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary, dated September 30, 2024 (NUC/AP/P32/VOL.11/79), revealed that expert panels conducted resource verification visits to assess human and material resources for the proposed programs at Wesley University, Ondo State.

The approved programs include, Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPhysio), Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), B. Sc. Anatomy, B. Sc. Physiology, B.HIM Health Information Management and PGD, M.A, M.Phil, and Ph.D. in Theology.

The programmes approval marks the fulfilment of one of the university’s strategic goals under the leadership of Rt. Rev Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka, aimed at establishing and commencing new academic programmes in the university permanent site.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Methodist Church Nigeria for its support and congratulated the university community on this achievement.
