🔬 PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of this programme is to produce practically oriented graduates in line with the philosophy of the University. The programme trains graduates with broad based curriculum of the various aspects of Microbiology, to inculcate microbiological concepts and techniques into students geared towards solving mankind problems and for self-reliance.

This philosophy extends across all science disciplines in the college, emphasizing practical skills, critical thinking, and the application of scientific knowledge to address real-world challenges and foster innovation.

The objectives of the programmes are to:

  • Develop modern scientific concepts and tools for enhanced service delivery in industries and other science-based institutions, in order to meet global challenges.
  • Build students' capacity in basic and applied research methods, geared towards national development.
  • Empower students in scientific concepts and techniques for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
  • Produce graduates with strong theoretical foundations and practical skills in various science disciplines.
  • Foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities applicable to real-world scientific challenges.

Bachelor of Science (BSc) programmes:

Biochemistry

Study of chemical processes within living organisms, molecular biology, and metabolic pathways.

Microbiology

Study of microorganisms, their interactions, and applications in medicine, industry, and environment.

Industrial Chemistry

Application of chemical principles to industrial processes, manufacturing, and product development.

Industrial Mathematics

Mathematical modeling, optimization, and computational methods for industrial applications.

Physics with Electronics

Study of matter, energy, and electronic systems with applications in technology and communication.

Geology & Mining

Study of earth materials, mineral resources, and sustainable extraction methods.

Geophysics

Application of physics principles to study the earth's structure, dynamics, and resources.

📋 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

📝 UTME Entry Requirements

At least five (5) Ordinary Level credits in subjects which must include:

English Language
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Mathematics

Credits must be obtained at not more than two sittings.

🎓 Direct Entry Requirements

  • JUPEB (Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board) with acceptable points
  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in relevant science disciplines with Upper Credit
  • Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) may be considered for admission into 200 level, provided they meet the minimum entry requirements
  • At least five O' Level credits including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
